Tim Tszyu Says Boxers Nowadays Are ‘A Bunch Of P*****s’
Tim Tszyu is frustrated with the state of boxing as he says most boxers are a bunch of p*****s and don’t want to fight.
Tszyu is set to face Keith Thurman on March 30, but it isn’t the opponent he originally wanted. Instead, Thurman will move up in weight, which Tszyu is happy about but still took aim at other boxers.
“Again, I look and aspire to [be like] the throwback fighters,” Tszyu stated during a press conference at The Conga Room at L.A. Live in Los Angeles (via BoxingScene). “You know, I feel like fighters these days, in this modern era, they’re just a bunch of p*****s . That’s just my opinion.”
Tim Tszyu points to boxing in the early 2000s when everyone fought everyone, which isn’t the case now. Instead, the top-level boxers don’t fight in their primes which is frustrating for Tszyu.
“The old throwback when I grew up watching [boxing] in the 2000s, everyone just fought the best, and that’s what I am,” Tszyu said. “At the end of the day, who cares? That’s why, for me, it was just I wanna fight and I wanna fight the big names. And Thurman was the big name and he’s the man that I’m after now.”
Although Tim Tszyu is glad to just fight, he knows he still has more work to do with his career to become a household name and take over the sport.
“I haven’t made it,” Tszyu said. “The making begins when I beat Thurman. It’s all part of the process. And he’s just the first name on the list. And again, this is the takeover for me.”
Tim Tszyu opened as a massive -1100 favorite to defeat Keith Thurman on March 30.
