Timothy Bradley: Canelo Is Putting Caleb Plant To Sleep
Timothy Bradley isn’t convinced that Caleb Plant has a chance against Canelo Alvarez.
On Nov. 6, Canelo will take on Plant in an undisputed super-middleweight title match. The bout will take place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Canelo holds the WBA, WBA, WBO, and The Ring gold, while Plant is the IBF titleholder.
Bradley, a former boxing world champion and current ESPN analyst, told Fight Hub TV that he feels Plant will be put to sleep when he meets Canelo (h/t Bad Left Hook).
“He going to sleep. He makes too many mistakes. Caleb Plant, to me, honestly — and this is my opinion, nobody has to think what I think — he’s like a street baller with all the skills in the world, you know, but he ain’t gonna make it to the league. He got all the skills, flash, crossover, behind-the-back passes and all that — he got all the skills, he does. But there’s holes that I see that he can’t do against Canelo. Canelo’s too smart. He don’t have the IQ to beat Canelo. It takes a guy with IQ to beat Canelo.
“Canelo can do it all too. He can fight you on the inside, he can fight you on the outside, he can be very defensive, he can counterpunch you. And if you don’t have the IQ to be able to deal with that and negate all of that, you’re not gonna beat him! I don’t see a guy right now between 175 and 168 that can beat Canelo, I don’t.”
Things have already gotten heated between Canelo and Plant. The two got physical during the first press conference hyping up their fight. Canelo punched Plant and caused a cut under his eye. Time will tell if that energy translates into fight night.
