Tommy Fury Says KSI Fight Was Horrible, Claims The YouTuber Just Wanted To Hold Onto Him
Tommy Fury knows his fight against KSI was not the most exciting boxing bout to watch.
Fury headlined a Misfits boxing card on Saturday in Manchester, England against YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI. It was the second straight fight that Fury had fought an influencer as before that, he had beaten Jake Paul by split decision.
Against KSI, however, the fight was not entertaining as it was a ton of clinching and Fury says he knows it was a bad fight to watch for the fans.
“We knew it was going to be an awful fight,” Fury told Fight Hub TV (h/t BoxingScene). “My dad predicted this a week ago. He said it was going to be a very scrappy fight, it was going to be a horrible watch, and that’s exactly what it was. I’m not going to beat around the bush. Was it my best performance? No, very far from it, and it was a horrible watch. I haven’t watched it back yet. At the end of the day, what do you want it to be when just one man wants to hop up and down and not engage? In traditional boxing, you stand there and you fight. You don’t up and down the ring and jump in with a little shot. So it’s a scrappy, scrappy affair.
“Everyone knows what we’re doing. We all know KSI is awkward anyway. He’s not a boxer. He’s a horrible man to fight,” Fury added. “Listen, the ref was on his side, clearly. He never took a point off him the whole fight. He was holding the whole fight and every time I was putting my hands out like that, and he was holding. He was just jumping in with one shot and then holding. I was pressing all the time, and I was pushing and doing everything on the inside. I was pressing the pace and that’s what matters. KSI can’t just jump up and down and lunge in a shot and hold. What is that?”
Ultimately, Tommy Fury did get the unanimous decision win and improved to 10-0 as a pro.
