Top Rank President Confident Tyson Fury Will Be ‘Razor Sharp’ Against Oleksandr Usyk
Top Rank president Todd DuBoef who is the co-promoter of Tyson Fury believes the Brit will be in top form when he boxes Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury and Usyk were supposed to box on Dec. 23 but it is now delayed until February. According to DuBoef, he says the fight is all agreed to but they are just picking a date.
“The heavy lifting’s done relatively. The heavy lifting of getting people to agree is done. I haven’t felt any of the parties involved, that were ready to do this in December, going in a different direction other than going forward,” DuBoef said to Sky Sports.
“Now we’re just trying to finetune some of this, the date and everything like that. I think there’s a promise, there’s a glimmer of hope out there, a big glimmer, that this will hopefully come to fruition. I think in the coming weeks, it might not be weeks even, days, we should be seeing something that solidifies everything,” DuBoef continued.
Although Tyson Fury didn’t look very good against Francis Ngannou two weekends ago, Todd DuBoef is confident ‘The Gypsy King’ will be razor sharp against Oleksandr Usyk.
“I think he was clear after the fight [with Ngannou] saying, ‘Hey, this is all on me, I did what I did.’ I don’t think he showed his full arsenal and when he’s razor sharp and he’s razor focused, what he’s capable of doing and I think on the other hand Francis was able to show what he was able to do when people had such low expectations,” DuBoef said. “I think next time you see Tyson Fury he’s going to be razor, razor sharp.”
If Fury is razor-sharp against Usyk, it will make the fight one of the most anticipated fights in years. The hope for many boxing fans is both Fury and Usyk are at their best when they do end up fighting in February.
