Top Rank Wins Purse Bid For Devin Haney vs. Sandor Martin
Top Rank has won the $2.42 million purse bid for Devin Haney vs. Sandor Martin on Tuesday.
Haney is coming off a stunning upset loss to Ryan Garcia and although he is still fighting it, his next fight will be against Martin, and boxing journalist Dan Rafael revealed Top Rank was the only bidder for the fight.
Following the news that Top Rank was the only bidder, Haney sent out several tweets saying he will be taking time off as he wants the Garcia rematch next.
“Wow Matchroom.. nasty work,” Haney wrote on X… “I’m promoting myself from now on.. or I might just work with… Ima take some time.. spend some of my money.. travel the world & I’ll b back in two years after Ryan suspension & we can fight again.”
Although Devin Haney wants the rematch with Ryan Garcia, his next fight will likely be against Martin due to him being his mandatory challenger.
Devin Haney is 31-1 and is coming off the loss to Garcia. Before that, he scored a decision win over Regis Prograis, Vasyl Lomachenko, and George Kambsos Jr. twice. Haney also holds notable wins over Jorge Linares, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Joseph Diaz Jr., and Zaur Abdullaev.
Sandor Martin, meanwhile, is 42-3 and on a two-fight winning streak. He’s coming off a KO win over Mohamed El Marcouchi and Arblin Kaba after dropping a decision to Teofimo Lopez. Martin holds notable wins over Jose Felix Jr., Mikey Garcia, and Joe Hughes among others.
