Trainer Vows Francis Ngannou Will Shock The World Against Anthony Joshua
Francis Ngannou is set to face Anthony Joshua on Friday in Saudi Arabia and trainer Dewey Cooper expects his fighter to shock the world.
Ngannou is coming off a split decision loss to Tyson Fury and will now face Joshua in a highly-anticipated matchup. The former UFC heavyweight champion enters the fight as the betting underdog, but Cooper believes Ngannou will shock the world again and prove to everyone just how good of a boxer he is.
“The world just didn’t understand how terrific of a boxer Francis could be,” said Cooper (h/t BoxingScene). “Everyone looks at him like just some power puncher who gases out and that’s not the case. The world thought Tyson looked bad because Francis is that guy. I can’t wait for what they have to say about March 8, because we plan on an exemplary performance and shaking up the world of boxing again by defeating a great fighter like Anthony Joshua.”
If Ngannou does beat Joshua on Saturday it would be a statement-making win for the former UFC heavyweight champion.
Going into this fight, Francis Ngannou has full confidence he will get his hand raised and defeat the Brit to shock the world.
“Nothing is impossible, right? We don’t know the strength of Anthony Joshua but even though I don’t believe he has that strength [to beat me], but we’re going to find out,” Ngannou said on the “High Performance” podcast. “We’re going to find out, and I think the reverse is going to happen. I’m going to be the one taking his soul.”
