Trevor McCumby Claims Money Has Gone To Caleb Plant’s Head
Trevor McCumby believes Caleb Plant has let money get to his head.
McCumby is set for the biggest fight of his career as he will take on Plant on Saturday on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga. Although McCumby is a sizeable underdog going into the fight, he believes Plant is overlooking him as he believes he is a bigger star than he is.
“He had bad blood with Dirrell. I think I saw him walk in the ring with Dirrell. I think he was almost 40-years-old. Okay, you knocked out a 40-year-old dude, and you walk around like your a superstar. I think the money got to him,” said Trevor McCumby to the Probox TV YouTube channel (via Boxing247).
Plant has had massive paydays before, like when he fought Canelo Alvarez. But, he is hoping he can get another crack at Alvarez if he gets past McCumby on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Entering the bout, Trevor McCumby knows people are overlooking him but he has full confidence he will shock the world and beat Plant. If McCumby beats Plant, he would be thrown near the title picture and will get big fights from here on out.
“I don’t let the stuff get in my mind. I’ve had 150 amateur fights and almost 30 pro fights. I’m hyper-focused on getting the job done,” said McCumby. “They can expect me to give my absolute all, and I promise you I’m going to beat Caleb Plant.
McCumby is a +850 underdog against Plant but despite the odds, it would be one of the biggest upsets of the year.
McCumby is 28-0 as a pro and coming off a decision win over Christopher Pearson back in January. His fight against Plant is the first notable opponent McCumby has faced in his career.
