Tyson Fury Doesn’t Want To Fight Oleksandr Usyk, Claims Eddie Hearn
Eddie Hearn claims Tyson Fury doesn’t want to box Oleksandr Usyk next time out.
Reports came out that Anthony Joshua was taking step-aside money to let Fury box Usyk next time out. It made sense as Joshua would face the winner, but it later came out that no agreement was made.
According to Hearn, he says they would be willing to agree to step-aside money but he claims Fury doesn’t want to face Usyk next. With that, it’s likely Joshua and Usyk will have their rematch while Fury will face Dillian Whyte.
“The reality of the situation is, we would be willing to see a long-form agreement with a plan for AJ. We are not at that stage,” Fury said to IFL TV. “Tyson Fury don’t want to fight Usyk, in my opinion, because he had the opportunity to do it. Really, when it came down to it, he really don’t want to. What Fury really wants to do is have an easy one in March, that is what he really wants to do. Now, he’s going to have ot fight Dillian Whyte and after all this, he will get beat by Dillian Whyte, he will get knocked out by Dillian Whyte. The reality is when it really came down to it, he didn’t want to fight Oleksandr Usyk.”
As of right now, the purse bid for Fury-Whyte has been delayed again so it has only made the heavyweight division murkier. However, it is likely we will see a conclusion to this and who ends up fighting who in the very near future.
Tyson Fury (31-0-1) is coming off the 11th-round KO win over Deontay Wilder in their trilogy match to defend his titles. Prior to that, he scored the TKO win over Wilder. The Englishman held the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring heavyweight titles after beating Wladimir Klitschko but walked away from the sport due to mental health issues.
