Tyson Fury Predicts First Round Stoppage Against Anthony Joshua
WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has boldly predicted he will stop his compatriot Anthony Joshua inside one round when they finally meet to crown an undisputed champion. Earlier this summer it was announced the two British fighters had come to financial terms on a two-fight deal.
Both men must first get past upcoming opponents in the former of Deontay Wilder for Fury and Kubrat Pulev for Joshua. Once they have done so it is all systems go for an all-English undisputed fight after Dillian Whyte surrendered his shot at the WBC title during his most recent loss to Alexander Povetkin.
Joshua has been talking up a fight between him and Fury. ‘AJ’ told on Sky’s ‘A League of Their Own’ he would take out ‘The Gypsy King’ inside six rounds.
“First six rounds, I think, well I know I’m going to take him out then,” Joshua said.
“I have had a shorter career, so I’m fresher. I’ve been in the deep end longer so I can handle the pressure and I believe I’m going to take him out. Fury drew the first and then rejigged his game plan and took Wilder out and schooled him really but I think I’m faster than Wilder anyway, call it what you want, I believe I’m better.”
Fury caught wind of those comments and predicted he would finish the fight even quicker.
“I would batter Joshua inside the first round,” he said. (Transcribed by Boxing Scene)
