Tyson Fury Reacts To Potential Deontay Wilder Trilogy: ‘Looks Like I Have To Crack His Skull Again’
Tyson Fury looks to be resigned to fighting Deontay Wilder a third time.
Fury recently announced a deal was set for him to fight Anthony Joshua in a highly-anticipated title unification clash in August.
However, that fight was rocked by the news that an arbitrator had ordered the trilogy between Fury and Wilder to take place after deeming that the latter had the contractual right to the fight before September 15.
With Bob Arum refusing to pay Wilder step-aside money, it looks like that’s the fight we will end up seeing after all.
Here’s how Fury reacted to the news as he notably claimed Wilder asked for as much as $20 million to step aside (via Michael Benson):
“What a joke Deontay Wilder has become, asked for $20million to move over. Joker. Looks like I have to crack his skull again.”
Wilder’s new trainer, Malik Scott, meanwhile, explained how only retribution was on the mind of his pupil and that any offer made was declined.
“Wilder declined and had no interest in step-aside money,” he said. “Y’all dealing with a whole different type motherf***er over here. He want the blood, not that step-aside money. ‘Retribution is upon us’.”
It’s not the fight the boxing world wanted, but when it’s fight week, fans will eventually get excited again as it’s still a big fight.
