Tyson Fury Responds To Anthony Joshua Criticism Of Deontay Wilder
Tyson Fury clapped back at Anthony Joshua on Thursday.
In a recent interview on JD Sports Roundtable, Joshua gave his thoughts on Deontay Wilder‘s performance in the trilogy with Fury last month.
Wilder was notably knocked down three times en route to an 11th-round knockout defeat.
“He [Wilder] tried, but to get that power and that ferociousness, you have to have it up here [points to his head],” Joshua said.
“Before you have it just here [clenches fists] at that level, you have to have it here [points to his head] as well.”
BoxingScene posted his comments on social media with a slightly deceiving headline that Joshua said Wilder lacked a proper game plan.
Fury caught wind of the tweet and let rip into his domestic rival.
“irony of this mug.”
Fury, of course, is referring to the fact that Joshua himself barely had any game plan during his unanimous decision defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in September.
That is also one reason why Joshua is looking to team up with Canelo Alvarez‘s head trainer Eddy Reynoso ahead of his rematch with Usyk.
Joshua will need to pull all the stops — because if he loses, Fury believes their fight is dead in the water.
“If Joshua goes in again and loses, which I think he will, that fight’s dead in the water for me,” Fury said in a recent interview. “But if he lets me fight Usyk and I batter Usyk, then I’d come back and batter him as well.”
