Tyson Fury Reveals Who He Wants To Win The Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk Fight
Tyson Fury will be paying close attention to Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday in England.
Fury and Joshua were supposed to have their highly-anticipated bout this year but an arbitrator ruled Deontay Wilder was owed a third fight. With that, Fury will have his trilogy with Wilder while Joshua will defend his belts against Usyk. It’s a big fight for the division and Fury says he will be paying close attention to the bout and says he wants Joshua to win so he can beat him up.
“I watch all the boxing fights, every single one that happens I watch, so of course I’m going to watch a heavyweight championship fight for sure,” Fury said (via Express). “Do I want him to win? Definitely. Because it doesn’t make much sense in me beating Usyk up. I’d much prefer to beat Joshua up. It’s a bigger fight and people want to see it more. If Usyk does then he will cost us a few quid, won’t he? Then again we have lost plenty of money in the past so it doesn’t really matter, does it? There’s plenty to go around. Joshua’s got a tough fight, you know – Usyk is no mug.”
If Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury both win their fight would be massive so it makes sense as to why Fury is rooting for Joshua to win. If Usyk wins, it’s likely Joshua and Usyk would have to rematch which would delay their massive fight even more.
Although many believe Joshua will rout Usyk, Fury doesn’t agree. He knows Usyk has the skill to win as he is a good fighter but he’s rooting for Joshua.
“People say to me, ‘he’s too small’ and this and that. But the guy is bigger than Muhammad Ali, he’s bigger than Mike Tyson and he’s bigger than Holyfield,” Fury said. “All those guys, big, same size and the same weight. He’s definitely a good fighter.”
