VIDEO | Nico Ali Walsh Scores KO Win In His Second Pro Fight
Muhammad Ali’s grandson, Nico Ali Walsh continued his impressive start to life in the professional boxing ranks on Saturday night.
Ali Wash squared off against James Wesley II on the undercard of Jamel Herring vs. Shakur Stevenson at State Farm Arena in Las Vegas.
The 21-year-old knocked his opponent down in the second round before doing so again in the third. Wesley rose to his feet on both occasions and wanted to continue but his head trainer, Lamar Wright, waved a towel in the direction of referee Nate Mann, who then stopped the fight less than 30 seconds into round three.
“I’m blessed that I am following the legacy of my grandfather. Everyone who loved my grandfather is now watching me,” Ali Walsh said post-fight.
“I know the crowd got excited seeing him hit me with a punch but I truly didn’t feel it,” Ali Walsh added. “I’m happy this fight went the way I did. There is stuff I need to work on.”
In August, Ali Walsh won his debut professional wearing a pair of shorts his legendary grandfather had given him. The young prospect needed just 70 seconds to take out Jordan Weeks in Catoosa, Oklahoma.
