WATCH: Katie Taylor Drops & Beats Jennifer Han
Katie Taylor has scored yet another victory.
Taylor was in action on Sept. 4. She put her WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring Female Lightweight Titles on the line against Jennifer Han. Taylor ended up dropping Han en route to a unanimous decision victory.
Here are some highlights of the fight.
Before the fight, Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn told reporters that he thinks a superfight between Taylor and Amanda Serrano would be huge for Madison Square Garden in New York City in 2022 (h/t Sunday World).
“That’s the biggest fight in women’s boxing by a country mile,” he said. ““That’s a fight that could headline Madison Square Garden – but we’ve got to get it over the f***ing line. And it’s so difficult to do.”
Despite being 35 years old, don’t expect Taylor to retire anytime soon. Hearn recalls a conversation he had with Taylor about suggesting retirement.
“I said to her after she fought Cindy Serrano in Philadelphia, ‘how many more fights have you got? Five or six?’ She looked at me like she was going to kill me. She goes, ‘What do you mean?’ I genuinely had to pretend I was joking.
“If you said to her now, ‘You’ve got another five fights’, she really wouldn’t believe what you’re saying,” Hearn added. “She’d go, ‘What are you talking about?’ I think people look at Katie and think, ‘At some point, she’s going to age.’ And maybe it’s Jennifer Han who’s going, ‘Look, I know I’m an underdog, but maybe one night she’s just not going to be the same fighter.’
