WBC Officially Orders Tyson Fury To Defend Title Against Dillian Whyte
We will be seeing Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte next.
The WBC have officially ordered a title fight between the pair with all parties currently in the free negotiations period.
They have 30 days to agree to a deal otherwise purse bids will be called for.
“The WBC hereby orders the start of the free negotiations period pursuant to the WBC Rules & Regulations for the mandatory bout between WBC World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury and Mandatory Challenger and WBC Interim World Champion Dillian Whyte.”
Tyson Fury Next Foe Is Dillian Whyte
Of course, Fury doesn’t have to go ahead with this fight. However, he’ll have to vacate the WBC heavyweight title if that is the case.
With that said, Fury will likely not only want to keep his title, but also remain active.
He had already targeted a meeting with Whyte in recent months as Anthony Joshua is expected to take on Oleksandr Uysk in their heavyweight title rematch next year.
There were some doubts about whether Whyte would be Fury’s mandatory especially as the WBC didn’t order it last month due to the former’s ongoing legal case against them.
However, it looks like any issues have been ironed out and Whyte will now get his first chance at becoming heavyweight champion — without any interims involved this time.
