Daniel Dubois is ready to prove himself once again
Daniel Dubois is set for another big test in the heavyweight division – and it truly feels like he’s ready for the big time.
After suffering defeat to Joe Joyce, many wondered whether or not Daniel Dubois would ever be cut out for the big time. Now, however, at the age of 27, he holds the IBF heavyweight championship – and his future looks brighter than ever. Even after his loss to Oleksandr Usyk, he had his moments.
Over the course of his last few fights, he’s rattled off blockbuster wins over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgović and, most notably, Anthony Joshua. Those are three names – and two especially in the case of the latter – that should be taken very seriously.
Now, he’ll meet Joseph Parker on February 22 in Saudi Arabia, with his aim being to defend his title as well as prove that he’s ready for a crack at the undisputed gold.
Daniel Dubois shoots for the stars
Not so long ago, he was talked about someone who complained too much and didn’t have the right attitude necessary to make it to the top. Alas, he put all of that to bed when he went out there at Wembley Stadium and absolutely demolished Anthony Joshua. At this point, taking on someone like Parker shouldn’t phase him whatsoever.
We aren’t suggesting that he should be overlooking him, but when you have that kind of composure and power, you shouldn’t be fearing anyone at heavyweight. It certainly feels like the stars are aligning for him to eventually rematch Usyk and perhaps push him even further, but even if he doesn’t, the Parker fight alone is set to teach us a lot about what he’s made of.
We already know he can shine under the bright lights but with the world watching on one of the biggest cards of all time, Daniel Dubois knows what he has to do.
