Appreciating Jake Paul

Jake Paul

It may sting a little bit, but it might be time to start appreciating what Jake Paul is bringing to the table in the world of professional boxing.

We all know what Jake Paul is about. He’s gone from being a controversial figure on social media to a controversial figure in the combat sports realm. He tends to fight overaged boxers or mixed martial artists, and when he stepped into the ring with a ‘proper’ boxer in the form of Tommy Fury, he came up short.

With that being said, Jake Paul’s influence goes far beyond what he does in the ring. He’s also a promoter as part of MVP, and one of the biggest things that he’s been able to achieve is bringing some real relevancy and intrigue back into the women’s boxing landscape.

Amanda Serrano is the first piece of the puzzle, but for ‘The Problem Child’, it seems as if he wants to extend his reach far beyond that.

Jake Paul is getting things done

The first ever major all women’s boxing event will be broadcast on Netflix. Jake Paul and MVP are part of the reason why that’s happening, and that can’t be overlooked – no matter how badly people wish to do so. The main event will see Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano squaring off for the third time but in a lot of ways, the biggest story of them all is the fact that plenty of other female boxers will get the chance to shine in front of a worldwide stage.

We aren’t here to say that Paul is the saviour of boxing and that he’s never done anything wrong – far from it. What we do believe, though, is that he deserves a bit of praise. You don’t have to go over the top, but just acknowledging it is enough.
