Ryan Garcia’s redemption

Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney

Ryan Garcia is the definition of a controversial figure in the world of professional boxing – and for good reason. Alas, that doesn’t need to be his legacy.

At the age of just 26, Ryan Garcia has already accomplished some great things in boxing. He’s also rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, largely due to a shift in his public image that left many wondering whether he’d ever step foot in the ring again. Alas, not only did he step foot in the ring again, he defeated Devin Haney in one of the most shocking fights in recent memory.

Then, the result was overturned as a result of a positive drug test. Ever since then, the future of Ryan Garcia has been uncertain – but now, we have a bit more clarity. On May 2, he will collide with Rolly Romero in an event that will be held in Times Square, New York City.

Perfect.

Ryan Garcia needs a big performance

Romero is a pretty fierce competitor when he wants to be and although he isn’t one of the ‘elite’ performers of his generation, don’t make the mistake of underestimating him. He thrives off of the underdog title and he knows how critical a big statement win would be for Ryan Garcia.

We can’t imagine ‘King’ is going to calm down on his outbursts anytime soon, because he’s been able to build quite a big following off of it – and, has more than likely, made a lot of money.

All we can ask for is a return to form in the ring. There are plenty of exciting, high profile bouts out there for Ryan Garcia if he can turn this ship around, and it all begins in Times Square – which is a pretty insane sentence in its own right.
