Tyson Fury’s future: is he done if Oleksandr Usyk wins?
It’s a question that many have asked, and we’re curious to know the answer – even though we won’t get a definitive one until after the fight. The question is this: will Tyson Fury retire if he loses to Oleksandr Usyk again?
On December 21, Tyson Fury will meet Oleksandr Usyk for the second time as they clash for the right to be known as the king of the heavyweight division. In their first meeting, it was Usyk who got the upperhand – and he did so in fairly emphatic fashion, even coming close to stopping ‘The Gypsy King’.
Now, in the rematch, many are of the opinion that Tyson Fury is going to take things a whole lot more seriously. Whether or not that’s actually true, of course, remains to be seen, but it does feel like he’s more switched on the second time around.
If he wins, his legacy is there for all to see. However, if he loses, where does he go next?
Tyson Fury’s future
If he’s eager to hang around beyond a second (potentially losing) effort against Oleksandr Usyk, you’d have to imagine we’ll finally get the chance to see the bout that should’ve happened many, many years ago. We are, of course, talking about Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua.
No, it isn’t going to be the same as if it was done in their respective primes, especially after Joshua was knocked out by Daniel Dubois. However, with Dubois focusing his attention on Joseph Parker in February, it could be the perfect time to strike while the iron is hot.
That isn’t to say we’re counting Fury out of the Usyk fight – far from it. We recognize that he has a great chance at shocking the world once again to become world champion. Still, it’s nice to plan for contingencies, and we don’t think this is the last time you’ll see him in the ring either way.
